"Monday Mood"

I am a child of the theatre. Therefore my weekend beginns
when everybody else resumes work. Monday morning is my "day off", my weekend.
I love to linger over my breakfast with a cup of chocolate cappuccino in my hand, listening to some nice music like this one...

Laura Marling is one of the favourite singers of a close friend and I totally understand why. She is so young, even one year younger than me, but has an incredible deep voice & such a pleasant aura.

The Power of Nature

Snowy Halloween

A rare October snowstorm brought several inches to New York City and even more elsewhere, but the real problem came from downed power lines that left several million without power from Maryland to Maine. Along the coast and in such cities as Boston, relatively warm water temperatures helped keep snowfall totals much lower. Washington received a trace of snow, tying a 1925 record for the date. New York City's Central Park set a record for both the date and the month of October with 1.3 inches of snow.

This storm caught many by surprise
and they can´t do anything else than putting another blanket on...
Snow is just frozen water (or a multitude of crystalline water ice - that´s how a dictionary would discribe it)! I actually love snow, ´cause the world seems to be calmer and cosier with this "icing sugar" all over, but it also has the power to damage life. Like many nice things also have a bad face. Of course it would be horrible when a snowstorm jumbles my hometown. But spending some days without electricity could help to settle down! And looking at the picture below you can see how wonderfull and enchanting a winterwonderland might look like.

So dear New York,

it is time to slow down a bit,
maybe it is a chance to close ranks,
maybe you can enjoy your first cup of glühwein,
maybe you can catch some positive thoughts out there,
maybe you can make love...

Elvine

I called a close friend today and we talked about nice cosy winterjackets. Something really important during these cold days... She told me about the swedish clothing brand Elvine inspired by Gothenburg’s unrefined subcultures and the legacy of traditional craftmanship.

A brand with a heart-warming History

Elvine Mänd may not be known by a lot of people, but her legacy and name is embroidered on the behinds and across the hearts of many. Elvine worked as a seamstress in Estonia during the Second World War. When the Russians invaded, Elvine made a run for Estonia’s neighbour, Sweden.
In 1975, Elvine’s daughter gave birth to a boy named Daniel Mänd, who would revive Elvine in a whole new way. Daniel grew up in the outskirts of Gothenburg, and quickly became one with the streets and its graffiti culture. With the opening of his own street wear store, Daniel realized what it was he and his friends weren’t able to find in the clothing industry. He wanted to create something that came entirely from him and Gothenburg’s unrefined street culture, but made in the tradition of his grandmother.
Wanting to reach people from the street, Daniel found inspiration in his everyday life, and more importantly, in his friends. It was about having a good time and bringing his community closer together. And somehow, the founder had become the very essence of his own brand. The unsophisticated boy from the streets became obsessed with quality and sophisticated craftsmanship. Daniel’s life on the streets merged with his grandmother’s functional legacy to create a new kind of Elvine: Sophisticated clothes for unsophisticated behavior.

Ready to Start

Hey Hey lovely visitor, welcome on my new horizon! I´m a young woman, born in the heart of germany, who currently lives in Hamburg. I really enjoy the maritime atmosphere up here in the north. I love the sea, a nice chat with coffee, my grandmother´s old leather bags, traditional music, scandinavian design, my inherited blue Diamant bike and the theatre. Enjoy and cheers for dropping by!
